Forward Gallery was created from a simple belief: buying exceptional art should be inspiring, enjoyable and built on trust.
After more than 40 years working in the contemporary art world, I wanted to create a gallery that reflected everything I believe a gallery should be. A place where people feel comfortable asking questions, where advice is honest and where discovering art is every bit as rewarding as owning it.
Whether you're buying your first signed print, adding to an established collection or searching for artwork for your home or business, our aim is always the same—to help you discover the right piece with confidence.
Inspired by Birmingham
The name Forward Gallery is inspired by the word Forward on Birmingham's historic Coat of Arms.
For me, it represents much more than a name.
It reflects our belief in always looking ahead, championing exceptional artists and helping Birmingham become recognised as one of the UK's great destinations for contemporary art.
We're proud to call Birmingham home, and equally proud to share artwork by internationally celebrated artists alongside outstanding contemporary talent.
Our Journey
Forward Gallery was founded in Moseley in 2010 before relocating to our current home at 5 Cannon Street, in the heart of Birmingham.
The gallery began by representing exceptional local artists including Rick Garland, Horace Panter, Danny Howes, Roxana Halls and Annette Pugh, many of whom are now collected nationally and internationally.
As the gallery grew, so did our collection.
Today, alongside the artists we proudly represent, you'll find works by some of the most influential names in contemporary art, including Andy Warhol, Banksy, Damien Hirst, David Hockney, Bridget Riley, Tracey Emin and Julian Opie.
Although we're an independent gallery, our inventory rivals those you would expect to find in many of London's leading galleries—a fact that still surprises many people when they visit us for the first time.

A Personal Note
After more than four decades surrounded by exceptional art, I wanted to create a gallery that reflected the values I've always believed in.
Not the biggest.
Not the loudest.
Simply a gallery people could trust.
Nothing gives me greater pleasure than helping someone discover the artwork that's right for them. Seeing that moment when a piece truly connects with someone is still the most rewarding part of what I do.
